Northern Dancer - was a stocky little bay standing at only 14 hands 2 1/2 inches high. At 3 years old he set a track record for 1 1/16 mile and 6 1/2 furlongs. At 4 years old he matured into a confident champion earning Horse of the Year Honors. He won his first 5 races and capped a great season by setting a track record in the Michigan Mile in Detroit. He stood at stud in Canada until 1967, when he was syndicated for $1,050,000.00. He died in 1973 at age 19 but not before he sired 43 stakes winners.
